Collection 33 paintings are an abstract response to the urban environment in Hong Kong. Loose repetitive shapes and grids have been taken from the structures of buildings in Hong Kong with the addition of numerals and text. Sue paints in many layers with strong gestural marks to create a combination of responses to place and time using soft colours and strong overlaying.
There is energy and vitality in the works which are spontaneous yet carefully composed with a sense of unity throughout. The use of text, often hidden in this collection, provides an additional layer of meaning and subtle references for the viewer, defining and articulating the works.
